What We Do

Through fundraising and volunteerism, the Barron PTA is able to deliver enriching experiences to our students & community. Every year our funds go towards events and special projects for the students, staff, school, families, and surrounding community. See below for examples of how our funds and volunteer efforts are used.

Field Trips

The Barron PTA provides annual funding to help offset costs for school field trips so that all students may share a low-cost or free experience.

Educational Enrichment

The Barron PTA provides funding for enrichment projects and events throughout the year. This funding may go towards things such as: special books, science equipment, art supplies, materials, in-class “events”, and more.

Staff Appreciation

We are pleased to support our Barron Staff throughout the year as a very small thanks for all that they do for our students every single day! Barron PTA hosts an annual Staff Appreciation Week as well as other events throughout the year. In addition to meals & treats, we aim to help teachers wherever they need it most.

Playground Renovations

Barron PTA’s fundraising efforts directly contribute to school playground renovations and upgrades, making a difference in the lives of our students for many years to come! Our most recent efforts include a fully refurbished playground, new basketball nets, and (coming soon) interactive playground stenciled artwork. Please see our “Projects” page for current projects and corporate sponsorship options!

Annual Events

The Barron PTA sponsors many beloved annual events for the Barron Elementary. Some of these events include: Welcome Back Night, The Fall Costume Parade, Grandparents Day, & More. Through fundraising, volunteerism, and partnership with the school, we are able to provide Barron kids and their families with a fun and exciting social calendar every year! We are always on the lookout for new event ideas & volunteers, as well as corporate sponsorships for funding!

Giving Back

The Barron PTA strives to give back to our greater community in Salem in a variety of ways, including a Family Acts of Kindness night, a Food Drive to support End 68 Hours of Hunger, and food and supply drives to benefit the Salem Animal Rescue League. Bringing our students and families together to work as a team toward a shared charitable goal is one of our most cherished missions!

Clubs

The Barron PTA helps design club programs that are both enriching and exciting! We strive to offer programs that encourage family involvement and are accessible to all of our students. Our clubs focus on special interests in STEM, Arts, & Community Enrichment. Some clubs may include: astronomy club, kindness club, art club, reading club, and more! We are always looking for new club ideas and volunteers to run them. If you have a special interest or hobby that you think would be a great fit for a school club and you would like to share your talents with our school, please reach out to us! We are also happy to accept donations of any materials/items that can be used in clubs.

Special Assemblies

The Barron PTA seeks to sponsor special “in-class” events featuring guest speakers, demonstrations, & entertainment in-line with the school’s educational enrichment mission. We are always looking for new ideas to help inspire & educate!

Community Involvement

The Barron PTA promotes community involvement through social awareness, charitable giving, and special projects. Some community involvement “missions” may include: gardening, park clean-ups, murals, “letters to seniors,” and more. We always welcome ideas for enriching community missions!

School Spirit

The Barron PTA hosts a wide range of “spirit events” throughout the year to encourage school spirit & engagement. These events may include special celebrations, costume days, treats, movies, etc. We also operate a Spirit Store where students and families can purchase low-cost spirit wear to represent the Barron Elementary School with pride!

School Dances

The Barron PTA hosts annual school-wide “dance” or fair, where students and their families can attend the school after-hours and experience an exciting night of activities, food, music, and fun! These special events provide lasting memories for children and their families.
